Teatro delle Albe was founded in 1983 thanks to Marco Martinelli and Ermanna Montanari, an art couple and in life. Bearers of a poetics that does not separate art from existence and draws from tradition tearing it apart, the two artists concentrate their work on the role of the actor and of the word: Ermanna Montanari plunged in scenographic creation and in the vocal research that brings her in 2021 to establish a school of vocality and a center for studies on the voice (MALAGOLA) with Enrico Pitozzi; Marco Martinelli involved in writing and directing with pedagogical enthusiasm. They have been awarded with 14 Ubu Awards (among them the 2018 Ubu Award to Ermanna Montanari as “Best Actress” for fedeli d’Amore-Love’s faithful), the Golden Laurel at the Mess Festival in Sarajevo, the “Lo Straniero Award in memory of Carmelo Bene", the Duse Award, the prize of the National Association of Theater Critics and the Hystrio Award.

fedeli d’Amore (Love’s faithful) is a “polyptych in seven panels”, a stage poem by Marco Martinelli on Dante Alighieri and our own present times, focusing on the original vocal research by Ermanna Montanari, interwined with the electroacoustic music by Luigi Ceccarelli.
Different voices speak in these seven panels: the fog of a dawn in 1321, the demon of the pit where the merchants of death are punished, a donkey that carries the poet on his last journey, the “scolding” imp who incites brawls about money, Italy kicking herself, Alighieri’s daughter Antonia.
These voices tell us about the refugee, the poet who fled from his own city that sentenced him to the stake, and is now on his deathbed in exile, in Ravenna, in the grip of malarial fever.
