Գիշեր | gisher is a live work and a video performance that touches narrations that deal with geography, the body, identity, conflict and belonging. Filmed and mostly written in Armenia, Գիշեր | gisher is a work that exists in two parts. It starts in a space where the audience in invited to experience a collage of sound and images.
Subsequently, in alignment with traditions of oral transmission and passing of knowledge that are specific to many communities of the SWANA (South West Asian, North African) regions, the audience is invited to sit around a fire and listen to the voices of 8 artists that Giorgia invited to respond to the work.
The prèmiere of Գիշեր | gisher coincided, in July 2020, with the re-emergence of the war over the occupation of the Armenian territory of Artsakh by azeri forces.
